Counselling for people seeking steadiness, agency, and meaning in an overstimulated world.
You may be feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or stuck in survival mode — even though you are thoughtful, capable, and trying hard to make sense of your life.
For some people this comes from long-term stress or burnout. For others it follows a loss of meaning, a collapse of faith, or the impact of ongoing health challenges.
Many people also notice that constant digital stimulation leaves them scattered, reactive, and unable to settle.
Blue Ocean Counselling works with people whose lives have gradually narrowed by chronic stress, belief collapse, long-standing health challenges, and digital saturation.
Online counselling for individuals across British Columbia.
This May Feel Familiar
Sometimes life continues much as it always has, while something important no longer feels the same . . .
You're keeping up, but the meaning has faded.
You continue meeting responsibilities, yet find yourself increasingly exhausted or disconnected from what once gave your life direction.
Your health has changed the shape of everyday life.
Ongoing symptoms, limitations, or uncertainty may require constant adjustment, while others may not fully understand what you're experiencing.
Something you once believed no longer feels certain.
Questions about faith, identity, or belonging may leave you feeling unsettled, isolated, or unsure what to trust. There may be grief, relief, or both.
You're constantly connected, but rarely feel fully present.
Messages, information, and digital demands compete for your attention, leaving little room for sustained thought, quiet reflection, or meaningful connection.
These experiences are different, but each can raise deeper questions about identity, agency, and what matters most.
You don't need to have those questions figured out before beginning counselling…
Thoughtful counselling for complex transitions.
My work focuses on helping people navigate existential burnout, belief-system transition, chronic health challenges, and the psychological effects of digital saturation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

-
Not at all. Sometimes people begin counselling with a clear concern. Others simply have a sense that something in their life needs attention. We can begin wherever you are, taking time to understand your experience and what you hope to explore.
-
Not necessarily. My focus areas reflect the kinds of experiences I'm especially interested in working with, but people rarely fit neatly into categories. If you're unsure whether my approach would be appropriate for your concerns, we can discuss that during an introductory consultation.
-
Our sessions are collaborative conversations shaped by your experiences, questions, and priorities. I listen carefully, ask questions, offer reflections, and, where helpful, introduce practical strategies or new perspectives. My role is not to prescribe how you should live, what you should believe, or what decisions you should make, but to support your own understanding and capacity for meaningful choice.
-
The complimentary 20-minute consultation is an opportunity to briefly discuss what brings you to counselling, ask questions, and learn more about how I work. We can consider whether working together feels like a good fit. There is no obligation to schedule a counselling session afterward.

ABOUT DAVID
Why this Work Matters to Me
For more than two decades, my professional work has involved supporting people navigating complex health challenges and major life transitions.
Through those years, I became increasingly interested in the deeper questions that often emerge when life no longer fits the structures that once guided us. Questions about identity, meaning, belief, belonging, and how we find our way forward when familiar answers are no longer sufficient.
My longstanding interests in human development, philosophy, and the ways our social and technological environments shape our experience have further informed this perspective.
What draws me to counselling is the opportunity to explore these questions alongside another person — to listen carefully, understand their experience from within, and support their capacity to discover what is meaningful and possible in their own life.
